Google Expands Finance Offerings

Google has expanded its finance offerings with the launch of a standalone mobile app for Google Finance. The app, available on Android, provides users with real-time market data, live financial news, and Google's AI-powered 'Key Moments' feature, which explains why stocks are moving.

The app is part of Google's efforts to stake a claim in the increasingly crowded financial information app market. By providing a dedicated app, Google aims to give users a more streamlined and personalized experience.

In addition to the mobile app, Google is also upgrading its web experience. The new Google Finance web experience is coming out of beta with new features, including a portfolio feature and AI research tool. Users can create and manage portfolios, view investment performance, and ask questions to the AI research tool.

The portfolio feature allows users to view their investments in a single dashboard, tracking holdings and performance. Users can also create new portfolios by uploading files or describing their investments to the chatbot.

Google's AI research tool uses machine learning to provide users with insights and recommendations. Users can ask questions, such as 'what sectors are currently underrepresented in my portfolio?' and receive timely updates on assets.

The new Google Finance web experience and mobile app are available now, with an iOS version of the app to follow later this year.
