Cyberpunk 2077 Player Resurgence Sparks Calls for More DLC

The recent surge in player numbers for Cyberpunk 2077 on Steam has sparked renewed calls from fans for CD Projekt to release more DLC for the game. Despite the developer's previous statement that they had 'no plans' for further Cyberpunk 2077 DLCs or expansions, fans are urging them to reconsider.

The game's recent Steam player surge, which has reached a peak concurrent count of 100,000, its highest since 2023, has been fueled by a recent sale and the upcoming Netflix anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2. CD Projekt has confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 has sold an incredible 40 million copies since its December 2020 launch, with 5 million added in November 2025.

However, fans may have to wait a while for more content, as CD Projekt has confirmed that Cyberpunk 2 is in development, but won't be released until at least 2030. CD Projekt co-CEO Michał Nowakowski has suggested that Cyberpunk 2 will be released after The Witcher 4.

In response to the renewed interest in the game, Paweł Sasko, associate game director on Cyberpunk 2, tweeted 'Have fun my dears, hope it's going to keep you hooked, entertained, and inspired.' While CD Projekt has not commented on the calls for more DLC, the developer's previous statement suggests that fans may have to wait for Cyberpunk 2 to return to their much-loved dystopian universe.
